alo { air land ocean } yoga clothing GIVEAWAY + yoga wrap and leggings review
I love giving things (especially yogariffically awesome gear) away. It makes me feel drunk with…giving. :) My yoginis over at Alo – Air Land Ocean do, too. We put our heads together in a yogic head mudra and decided it was high time I mat-tested their goodies and gave one of my beloved peeps (that’s you guys!) a kick-asana yoga jacket. Holla!
For the last two weeks, I’ve been rocking the outfit shown above (with washings in between, geeesh!). The pieces are:
- Origami Tie Wrap. 60% organic cotton, 40% polyester. XS to XL. 2 colors: Black + Granite. $58.
- Bamboo Legging. 68% bamboo, 28% cotton, 4% spandex. XS to XL. 3 colors: Black + Granite + Eclipse. $52.
The Wrap. I’m totally a wrap girl. I have a million of them. This one is light as air; thin enough not to gross you out when you put it on your sweaty after-yoga body, but substantial enough to give a bit of warmth. The ties can be tricky, but you can get creative and tie them a number of ways. I tied them front to back down at my lady area (a la Cher in her Turn Back Time video) and made the boyfriend crack up laughing. Note: there are also more appropriate ways you can tie it. The white exposed stitching is a cool touch — gives it yoga funk. I’ve already worn this out-out with jeans.
The Bamboo Leggings. Now I’m not usually a capri leggings girl. I like to be covered up. I’m funny like that. But I actually love these best. They’re incredibly comfortable. No riding up, no seam adjustments needed. They don’t appear to be see-through. No one screamed or fainted when I was doing cat/cow in front of about 30+ people. The bamboo feels amazing, so soft. And they have the cutest little cut-outs and buttons at the calf. I was worried the buttons would poke me when I rolled over on them, but somehow they don’t. Alo: what magic is this? Diggin’ ’em.
Things to Love About Alo: they’re green, they utilize eco-friendly fabrics, they make it a rule to use reclaimed and recycled corporate materials, and their website keeps a running count of the fabric they’ve diverted from landfills, the office materials they’ve recycled, AND their electricity usage reduction. Oh yeah.
